The Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association (BIA) will be celebrating its leading members and the downtown shoppers that support these businesses this spring. The 1st Annual Downtown Proud Awards, sponsored by Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation (CEPCO), will feature five awards with winners nominated by Chilliwack residents.
“Debbie Biggin, BIA Office Manager, brought this great idea to me” said Kathy Funk, BIA Executive Director, “and I thought what a great way to acknowledge our awesome downtown businesses.”
The BIA is asking everyone to nominate their favourite businesses in 5 categories on their website www.downtownchilliwack.com for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a downtown restaurant. Nominations close Friday, May 24 and the finalists will be announced before the award presentation.
“There have been momentous changes in the landscape of downtown Chilliwack in the past few years,” says Barb Kemp, President of the BIA. “The Downtown Proud Awards are an excellent way to celebrate those who have demonstrated their commitment to the downtown through redevelopment, providing outstanding customer service, and going above and beyond to give back to the community,” Kemp explained.
The 1st Annual Downtown Proud Awards will take place at The Royal Hotel following the BIA Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, June 12.
